Warm greetings to everyone! I read about this site on Viggo-Works and after reading a few of the forum posts, I decided to join in on the conversation.

I have loved the poetic nature of Tolkien's works for years, but I must admit it was Peter Jackson's first movie in the series that prompted me to re-read The Lord of The Rings trilogy again. I'm sure I read the books when I was younger, but every line I read seemed to have nuances and insight that I missed when I was younger. Maybe it's because I'm older (I would love to say wiser, but I'm not sure that's true!).

I'm looking forward to reading more posts, contributing my thoughts and learning more about Tolkien and his work.

Welcome, Merri--I like your name! Wink

I've always thought that was the measure of a great work: that it grows as you grow. Looking forward to your contributions!

Thanks for the fabulous welcome! I had great intentions of coming back to the site earlier, alas, the best laid plans and all that. Very Happy I have some time off from work because of the Independence Day holiday and I'm looking forward to reading and responding.

Wishing a safe and enjoyable weekend to all.
