I love this, Riv - and believe it or not it bears a passing resemblance to our very own Fangorn - the gentleman from the Netherlands Tolkien Soc who attends Oxonmoot. I think it's the eyes and receding hair on top. Not that he's made of wood or anything . . . :D

I bet he'd love it!!!

I think this is wonderful as well, Riv. The eyes are more of a black and white suggestion of the "brown, shot with green" that Tolkien describes, as well as the "enormous well" Pippin refers to here:

"One felt as if there was an enormous well behind them, filled up with ages of memory and long, slow, steady thinking; but their surface was sparkling with the present: like sun shimering on the outer leaves of a vast tree, or on the ripples of a very deep lake."

That's very hard to capture visually, I must admit, but it is the characteristic that I most associate with Treebeard, and that I've never seen adequately conveyed anywhere except in the Professor's words.

Oh, I like this one best of all the ones of this type, Riv--and no wonder, coming from you! Wonderful colors, and I like the way you've done the trees and the sides of the valley in the background.

Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Oh!!! It's just beautiful Riv. This series is just going from strength to strength as you get into it. It's stunning. I love fact it's very organic (as an elven place would be) but still homely with the inviting, brightly lit windows. The colours are gorgeous.
