I hope you took a look at her blog with the wonderful photos.
No, she wasn't going to get a Gollum tattoo, she was just joking, next to a photo of some fanciful tattoo art with fantasy motifs, she says she doesn't even have any tattoos yet. Her blog comments are very witty, lots of dark humour, for example when she complains about so called books with pink covers with a happy woman showing her cupcakes and stuff, she's a serious author with an agenda, thinks one should write about important stuff, not just fluff that drives the consumer society.

Wow Estel thank you for your story and research. I loved looking at her illustrations in the link you provided. The Bilbo and Gandalf piece is wonderful. :D

I forgot to give the direct link to the Inger Edelfeldt illustrations in the 1985 Tolkien calendar despite talking about them  , knew I would find Rolozo on your linkpage.

I particularly love To the Stone of Erech and The Death of Glaurung.
I've had a look at my 1980s Tolkien book collection, there are no illustrations inside, remembered wrong, just dust jackets, but one of them, "Sagor från Midgård" (translates as "Sagas/Tales from Middle-Earth" but corresponds to Unfinished Tales) has Glaurung on the cover. No wonder I read that book hungrily.

Estel, I took particular notice of IE's "The Crowning of Aragorn." Look at how HUGE and CUMBERSOME that crown is! Even made of mithril, it likely would make most wearers topple over!

I noticed that crown too the other day  but I guess it will have to be attributed to the fairy tale element of her illustrations. The heaviest crown in the Swedish treasury weighs 2.5 kg, guess this Gondorian crown would weigh more, but Aragorn is tough, I'm sure he can wear it, consider walking around in armour and with a long, heavy sword. Also, think of the women and children in this world who are able to carry more than 10 litres of water in a jug on their head from a well about 10 km from home. :worship:
